Kara Grant is a modern two-time Olympic athlete from Canada. She was one of the first modern Canadian female five-pointed athletes, along with Monica Pinette, to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Born and raised in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Grant began her sporting career in modern triathlon at the age of 16. Although she joined a local fencing club Grant remained intrigued by the challenge and diversity of the five different sports, which ultimately led her to decide to try the sport. In 1999, Grant received a berth at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she won the bronze medal for her national team. After her exceptional performance, she spent five years training and competing before she broke onto the international stage in 2002, when she won her first individual bronze medal at the Inter-American Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
