Joanne Greenberg is an American author known for her best-selling novel I Never Promised You A Rose Garden, written under the pseudonym Hannah Green. It was adapted into a 1977 film and a play of the same name in 2004. She received the Harry and Ethel Daroff Memorial Fiction Award as well as the 1963 National Jewish Book Award for Novels for The King's man novel, about the massacre of the Jews in York at York Castle in 1190. She is a professor. Anthropology at the Colorado School of Mines. Greenberg appeared in Daniel Mackler's 2004 documentary Take These Broken Wings, about recovering from schizophrenia without the use of psychiatric drugs. His book, In This Sign, was adapted into the movie Hallmark of Fame under the title Love Is Never Silent. Greenberg has been a volunteer firefighter and medical officer for about 15 years.
