Robert Louis Backlund ist ein amerikanischer Profi-Wrestler im Ruhestand, der vor allem durch seine Zeit bei WWE bekannt ist, wo er zweifacher WWE-Champion und Mitglied der WWE Hall of Fame ist. Er begann 1973 unter Eddie Sharkey mit dem professionellen Wrestlingtraining und nahm an Wettkämpfen für die American Wrestling Federation teil. Später in diesem Jahr trat er der Worldwide Wrestling Federation bei und besiegte Superstar Billy Graham, um 1978 die Weltmeisterschaft zu gewinnen. Er hielt die Meisterschaft bis 1983, als er verlor die Meisterschaft in einem Match gegen The Iron Sheik.
